Meet the Teachers

Emily Hansen
This is my thirteenth year teaching in the Kasson-Mantorville school district. For the last seven years I have taught the 4 day School Readiness classes.  We use "Big Day for PreK" curriculum in our School Readiness program.  This curriculum provides a variety of structured group activities and educational opportunities that will prepare children for their future academic careers.  We engage children in playful, intentional learning and integrate social-emotional, academic, and physical development.
To enhance your child's handwriting, I use the "Handwriting Without Tears" curriculum which aims to make legible and fluent handwriting an easy and automatic skill. I also introduce letter sounds through "No More Letter of the Week" curriculum. Both of these curriculums are used in the Kasson-Mantorville kindergarten rooms.

KoMet Connections preschool is a busy place.  Our preschool children love coming to school.  We feel privileged to be able to work with so many children and their families. We continue to strive for developmentally-appropriate practice in our program using the Minnesota Department of Education's Early Learning Indicators of Progress as a basis for our curriculum. We will are using the curriculum pieces from the "Handwriting Without Tears" and the "No More Letter of the Week" programs. These programs are the preschool versions of those used in K-M kindergartens, therefore, creating a consistency between programs.
Thank you for your interest in your child's education and in our preschool programs.  We look forward to a terrific year ahead!!!

Welcome to KoMet Connections! I am so glad you're here! This is an important year for your child as he/she begins to venture out and explore the world of school.  We will be using the Scholastic Big Day for Pre-K curriculum. Your child's day at school will include music, literacy, math, writing, large-motor time, science, and social studies, and of course FREE-PLAY!! Throughout the year, we will be working on the essential skills your child will need to enter kindergarten in a year or two: social and emotional, fine motor, gross motor, pre-literacy, scientific thinking, mathematical reasoning, problem solving, creative expression, and many more.

Our year will be punctuated with special events and dress-up days as well as fieldtrips and classroom visitors.  We look forward to a fantastic year of growing and learning!

Hello Families!
I can’t wait to spend this school-year getting to know you and your children. I graduated in May from the University of Wisconsin-Stout as a triple-major in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Early Childhood-Middle Childhood Education. My last year was entirely dedicated to teaching Early Childhood Special Education at K-M. I have also been a lead teacher for the last 6 years at a childcare center in my hometown of Owatonna.

Our days will be spent learning and growing with one another, working on individual and group goals, participating in activities around our weekly themes, and lots of playing! For many of these children, this is their first time being at school. Our goal is to make school an exciting, comfortable, and fun place to be for all of the students.
This year is going to be so great!
